Gandanameno is a small, attractive velvet spider from Africa, known for its velvety appearance, compact body and web-based lifestyle. They are generally docile and easy to care for, making them a popular choice for keepers interested in velvet spiders.

They prefer a dry, well-ventilated enclosure with places to hide and anchor their web. They spend much of their time within or around their retreat and feed on small insects such as crickets and roaches.

Care Guide.

Enclosure: Small, secure enclosure with good ventilation.

Substrate: 2–4 cm of dry soil/coco fibre mix.

Temperature: Around 20–26°C; normal room temperature is usually suitable.

Humidity: Keep mostly dry, with occasional light moisture rather than a constantly damp enclosure.

Hides: Provide cork bark, leaves or other structures for webbing and retreat.

Feeding: Small crickets, roaches or other appropriately sized insects 1–2 times per week.

Water: Occasional tiny droplets on the enclosure wall/substrate; avoid standing water.

Handling: Best avoided—allow the spider to remain undisturbed in its web.

Important: Good ventilation is essential to prevent mould and excessive humidity.
