Dairy Cow isopods are a hardy variety of Porcellio laevis with a distinctive black-and-white spotted pattern resembling a dairy cow. They are active, fast-growing detritivores that feed on decaying leaves, wood, and organic matter. They are popular in bioactive enclosures and are relatively easy to keep.


care

  • Enclosure: Use a well-ventilated tub with deep, organic substrate.

  • Temperature: Keep around 20–26°C.

  • Humidity: Maintain a moist area and a drier area so they can regulate themselves.

  • Food: Provide leaf litter, decaying wood, and small amounts of vegetables.

  • Calcium: Offer cuttlebone or another calcium source.

  • Hides: Add cork bark, leaves, and pieces of wood for shelter.

  • Maintenance: Remove uneaten fresh food and lightly mist the moist side when needed.
